Born in Wyoming, Michigan, David Quang Pham (he/him) is a galaxy-class astronomer-songwriter. Due to youthful trips to space camp and operas, he has been composing love letters to science. After completing an astrophysics and theatre education at Michigan State University, he studied under Working Title Playwrights' Apprenticeship in Atlanta. Janelle Lawrence is his mentor. Since 2017, he is crafting the particle musical. TOUR focuses on subatomic educators colliding in the academic Accelerator, is a 2020 Downtown Urban Arts Festival finalist, and had a reading under The 24 Hour Plays in partnership with the Dramatists Guild. Then, he wrote an epic astrophysics mythology that centers family. ELLIPSES stars Singularity and their teenage Galaxies and follows their quest to undo the Big Bang, after Gravity (the family dog) sets it off. This coming-of-age story has been developed in readings and workshops at Working Title Playwrights and Theater Resources Unlimited. Recently, he is cowriting the book and music of PARALLEL UNIVERSITY for the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts program. His music has been performed at the Cabaret on the Couch, Musical Theatre Factory, NYPL Performing Arts, and Berkeley's Play Café. He plays the sackbut. Pham is the science dramaturg and planner at LMDA; a founding member of CreateTheater; the associate producer of Reach For It, Inc.; and a member of ΣΠΣ, ASCAP, and the Dramatists Guild. He traverses science communication through the human condition.
